Oregon State University Theatre’s 2018-2019 Season: Literature Comes to Life continues with Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, adapted for the stage by Kate Hamill. The production runs May 9-11 and 17-18 at 7:30 pm and May 19 at 2:00 pm on the Withycombe Hall Main Stage. Withycombe Hall is located at 30th and Campus Way on the Oregon State University Corvallis Campus.

Set in 1795, this charming and romantic tale follows the struggles of the sensible Elinor and passionate Marianne Dashwood. When their father dies suddenly, the Dashwood sisters navigate an uncertain future in a world of complex social mores fueled by gossip and intrigue. This classic romantic comedy features beloved literary figures and some of Jane Austen’s sharpest observations about family, society, money, and matters of the heart.

Elizabeth Helman, director and OSU Theatre faculty member comments, “This is such a unique adaptation of a familiar story – it’s fast-paced and very funny, but with extremely poignant moments. It’s full of challenges for performers and surprises for the audience.”

This cast features OSU students Lindsey Esch (Elinor), Cole Haenggi (Colonel Brandon), Natalie Harris (Margaret/Lucy), Alessandra Ferriso (Marianne), Evan Granquist (Sir John), Emily Jackson (Anne/Lady Middleton), Adam Keenan (Edward), Thomas R. McKean (Willoughby), Emily Moehn (Mrs. Dashwood), and Nicole Moussa (Fanny). Community members Matt Holland (John Dashwood) and Angie de Morgan (Mrs. Jennings) join the cast.

Tickets are $12 General Admission, $10 Senior, $8 Youth/Student, and $5 OSU Student and are available through the OSU Theatre Box Office by calling 541-737-2784. Contact the box office for DAS accommodations and/or group ticket sales.
