DESCRIPTION:Three generations of Indigenous women bring forth their persona
 l stories\, investigating violence and healing in their lives. These stori
 es burst onto the stage in absurd\, raucous\, and highly energized storyte
 lling\, dance and music. An unknown ancient woman rises out of the earth a
 nd conjures the space where the women tell their stories. She witnesses th
 eir intimate secrets as they navigate a path through their lives. "Materia
 l Witness" is the journey of their healing.\n\nIn 2012\, Aanmitaagzi and S
 piderwoman Theater came together on Nipissing First Nation to begin the cr
 eation of Material Witness\, a project born out of Spiderwoman's very firs
 t show\, Women In Violence. Over the next four years\, the companies and a
 rtists travelled between Nipissing and New York City\, developing the prod
 uction. In tandem with the show\, they developed the "Pulling Threads" Fab
 ric Workshop which travels to Indigenous communities\, where they create t
 he story quilts that are woven into the set and installation of Material W
 itness.\n\nThe School of Language\, Culture\, and Society and the College 
 of Liberal Arts at Oregon State University present “Material Witness"\, 
 an Aanmitaagzi and Spiderwoman Theater production.
