Stereoselective Borylation Reactions & Putting Exercise in a Pill—a Chemist’s Approach
About this Event

#seminara Chemistry Departmental Seminar ft. Prof. Webster Santos (Virginia Tech)
In this two-part presentation, we will discuss our efforts in developing reactions for the addition of B-X (X=B, Si, H) reagents to carbon-carbon multiple bonds in a stereoselective manner. We will describe our studies, principles learned, and provide insights into the reaction mechanisms. On the second part, we will highlight our investigations on developing small molecule protonophores selective for mitochondria as potential treatment of obesity and metabolic diseases. The medicinal chemistry approach and in vivo studies will be presented.
