 ar emphasis on scholarship that brings media\, communication\, or informat
 ion studies perspectives to these issues. The conference will also include
  plenary sessions and opportunities to build connections within the survei
 llance studies community. The conference’s broad theme is focused on the
  interconnections between “Media\, Information\, and Surveillance.” By
  framing the conference theme around issues of media\, information\, and s
 urveillance\, we hope to foster connections and dialogue about how approac
 hing and understanding emerging surveillance practices and technologies fr
 om media studies\, communication theory\, information science\, and critic
 al data studies perspectives can provide new insights or open new directio
