This talk illustrates how queer undocumented youth mobilize undocuqueer desire, love, and pleasure in activism that not only makes space for undocumented people in the nation, but also dares to reimagine the nation entirely. Ribero proposes that undocuqueer activist texts work as lifelines for undocuqueer communities by providing a way out of an oppressive present. They are the bricks with which to make new queer homes and new queer worlds where borders are flexible and welcome crossings and transitions.

Ana Milena Ribero is a proud Latina feminist, Mother-Scholar, and assistant professor of rhetoric and writing at Oregon State University. Her research and teaching primarily focus on rhetorics of im/migration, rhetorics of race, Women of Color feminisms, and critical race and feminist pedagogies. Her forthcoming monograph explores “Dreamer rhetorics”—the rhetorical productions of undocumented youth activism—during the Obama years. This talk comes from Professor Ribero's forthcoming book, Dreamer Nation: Immigration, Activism, and Neoliberalism
