In its opening concert of the season, the College of Liberal Arts' SAC Presents Series brings renowned jazz saxophonist Branford Marsalis and his quartet to the LaSells Stewart Center for one show only.
Marsalis' quartet has long been recognized as a vanguard of modern jazz. A rarely-changing roster of performers throughout the history of the quartet has allowed the ensemble to develop a deep catalog of original, expressive music filled with unforgettable melodies and thought-provoking form, while maintaining a unique sound unrivaled in the jazz world. Indeed, the Branford Marsalis Quartet and its uncompromising brand of acoustic jazz represents the standard by which all others must be judged. In addition to frontman Marsalis, the quartet includes pianist Joey Calderazzo, bassist Eric Revis, and drummer Justin Faulkner.
