Barstow is an assistant professor in the School of History, Philosophy, and Religion at Oregon State University, where he teaches courses on Buddhist thought and history. His research focuses on the practice of vegetarianism and animal compassion in Tibetan Buddhism.
Bjørn Kristensen
Master’s Candidate in Applied Ethics, Oregon State University
Bjørn’s research is at the intersection of animal ethics and environmental justice. In his talk, he will give an overview of the concept of speciesism, and discuss several philosophical perspectives on the moral status of nonhuman animals.
