https://liberalarts.oregonstate.edu/sac/theatre/university-theatre #theatreOregon State University Theatre’s 2019-2020 Season: The Undeniable Truth continues with the family-friendly musical adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beloved novel, The Secret Garden. With music by Lucy Simon and book and lyrics by Marsha Norman, this enchanting production runs February 28-29 and March 6-7 at 7:30 pm and March 1 and 8 at 2:00 pm on the Withycombe Hall Main Stage. Withycombe Hall is located at 2901 SW Campus Way, Corvallis OR 97331.
Set in 1911, Mary Lennox, a young and troubled orphan is sent to live in Yorkshire with distant relatives she has never met. After a difficult transition to country life, Mary becomes enchanted by a neglected garden and the secrets it and her family hold. This collaboration between OSU Theatre and Music is directed by OSU Music faculty member Anthony Eversole who comments on the production: “Through the shared efforts of the OSU Music and Theatre Arts programs, this has been a labor of love from the beginning. Our cast has such beautiful chemistry, I am frequently moved to tears in rehearsals. There is a simple purity in the script and score, and our student performers are telling the story with truth and vulnerability.”
This cast features OSU students Tanya Bihari (Ayah/Mrs. Winthrop), Lorna Baxter (Lily Craven), Michael Eclevia (Dr. Neville Craven), Steven Evans-Renteria (Ben), Easton Fiser (Lt. Wright/Major Shelly), Hanna Foshay (Martha Souerby), Atari Gauthier (Mrs. Medlock), Ash Gilbert (Alice/Jane), Natalie Harris (Colin/Mrs. Shelley), Jacob Hungerford (Dickon Souerby), Leah Kahn (Rose Lennox), Dylan Lewis (Archibald Craven), Cameron Macdonald (Major Holmes), Jordan Satterfield (Mrs. Holmes), and Tyson Zagelow (Lt. Shaw). Corvallis community members Eliette Barlow (Mary), Anthony Eversole (Captain Lennox), and Ellie Smith (Fakir) join the cast.
Tickets are $17 General Admission, $12 Senior/Youth/Student, and $5 OSU Student and are available through the OSU Theatre Box Office by calling 541-737-2784. Contact the box office for DAS accommodations and/or group ticket sales.
