Join us to learn more about Indigenous art with Steph Littlebird, Shirod Younker, and Natalie Ball.

Speaker bios:
Steph Littlebird ​is an artist, curator, writer, and a member of Oregon’s Grand Ronde Confederated Tribes. She received national recognition as curator of This IS Kalapuyan Land (2020) an exhibition at the Five Oaks Museum in Portland, which was featured by ArtNews and PBS NewsHour. Most recently, Pʰot-Choch, an exhibition held at Anita, Astoria OR (2021) presented traditional and contemporary art of the original Chinook inhabitants of the North Coast.

Shirod Younker is a Citizen of the Coquille Indian Tribe and is also of Coos, Umpqua, and Filipino descent. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Oregon State University. Shirod is an artist and educator who has committed to perpetuating the artwork of his people, and supporting others to do the same. For Shirod, his work with art is also deeply intertwined with community engagement and education. Shirod resides in Portland and Warm Springs, Oregon with his wife and dog.

Natalie Ball was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She has a Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Indigenous, Race & Ethnic Studies & Art from the University of Oregon. She furthered her education in Aotearoa (NZ) at Massey University where she attained her Master’s degree with a focus on Indigenous contemporary art. In 2018, Natalie earned her M.F.A. degree in Painting & Printmaking at Yale School of Art. Natalie Ball is an elected official serving on the Klamath Tribes Tribal Council.
