#Tihar, Dipawali, NepaliCultureTihar, also known as Deepawali or Yamapanchak, is one of Nepal's most vibrant and widely celebrated festivals. It spans five days and typically occurs in late October or early November, following the lunar calendar. Tihar honors various animals, and familial bonds, with each day dedicated to specific cultural activities. In this event, crows, dogs, cows, and oxen are honored, and familial bonds, particularly between brothers and sisters, are strengthened through various activities. During this festival, cultural songs are sung along with Nepali dances visiting neighbors' houses and houses are beautifully lit with oil lamps and adorned with colorful rangoli. Tihar’s blend of cultural devotion, animal reverence, and celebration of family ties make it one of Nepal’s most meaningful and joyful festivals.
To reflect its cultural essence, Tihar celebration will have following activities, with many activities running simultaneously:
Bhaili singing and dancing (led by female community members)
Deusi singing and dancing (led by male community members)
