At Oregon State University, it is our tradition for all faculty and staff to gather together on University Day, a celebratory launch to the academic year. University Day and includes a powerful keynote address, meaningful discussion, awards recognition, and fun prizes for participants.

Dr. Holden Thorp, Editor-in-Chief of the Science family of journals, will be the 2021 University Day keynote speaker. Dr. Thorp will discuss the intersection of science, higher education, and politics and policy in light of lessons learned from the pandemic. The keynote presentation will be followed by a conversation moderated by Dr. Selina Heppell and Dr. Becky Vega-Thurber.

In keeping with OSU’s commitment to supporting personal wellness and public health, University Day 2021 will be held virtually.
