University Theatre: Ellis Island by Leah Kahn

"Ellis Island," a new play by OSU Theatre student Leah Kahn will run in the Withycombe Hall Lab Theatre February 10-12 at 7:30 pm and February 13 at 2:00 pm.

Ellis Island is the touching story of an unlikely friendship that develops between two immigrant women fleeing their home countries to America in 1906. The barriers of language and cultural differences are overcome by a shared vision for a brighter future. It features the design work of OSU students Libby Brennan (costume design) and Dakota Smith (lighting design) with performances by OSU students Maia Barnabey (Mandolina), Tess Juarez (Dominica), and Savanah Taggard (Fecha). Corvallis community members Jax Kelberer and Kyle Stockdall also join the cast.

For the show, I want to really emphasize the reality of how difficult communicating with one another would be and the beauty of overcoming those obstacles,” said Hannah Schwartz, director, an OSU theatre student.
