https://liberalarts.oregonstate.edu/theatreOn the Razzle follows two silly assistants on an adventure in the city of Vienna which leads to a wild chase, mistaken identity and a little romance...
On the Razzle is adapted from the 19th century Viennese farce, Einen Jux will er sich machen, by Johann Nestroy, which became the basis for Thorton Wilder’s Matchmaker and later Hello Dolly, Tom Stoppard’s On the Razzle returns to the original source material with his unparalleled sense of wit and charm. Upon his engagement, grumpy shopkeeper Zangler, has promoted his two employees Weinberl and Christopher to be his new partner and chief sales assistant. Before taking on this new level of responsibility, the young men decide to have one real grand adventure and secretly travel to Vienna in order to “acquire a past before it’s too late!” While out on the razzle, Weinberl and Christopher find themselves of a series of unlikely comic circumstances where they simultaneously embrace life and jeopardize their future prospects with Zangler.
