EECS Design Community of Practice Career Event - Hidden Keys to Success for Finding and Getting a Job After Graduation

EECS Design Student Community of Practice is hosting Webinar Friday! Join us to learn about “hidden keys” to finding an engineering job. This talk will be focused on career-finding and application knowledge for those hoping to get hired after graduation from EECS. Specific tips on finding an entry-level government job will also be discussed. This talk will be particularly helpful for building confidence in your ability to find and get a job in  the engineering industry. Entry is free, and all undergraduate and graduate students interested in finding jobs are encouraged to participate.

Speaker Information:

Megan Hurley:  Megan Hurley started at BPA as an intern in June 2020 and then became a full-time employee after graduating with her ECE degree in 2021. Initially, she worked in the field testing and energizing substation communications (mostly RAS and SCADA) equipment. Now she works on pre-testing equipment in the lab, performs control center testing, and makes short trips to the field as needed.

Nancy Morales:  Nancy Morales started as an intern in June 2020 in the operations-renewables team and is still on that team since graduating with an ECE degree in 2021. Most of her duties entail conducting studies and researching the effect of renewables in the PNW, as well as input for future renewables entering the system (co-generators, batteries, new wind, and solar technologies). In August 2021, Nancy became the president of the Hispanic Latino Resource Group at BPA.

Erich White: Erich White is a specialist in engineering career knowledge and the assistant director of the Career Development College of Engineering at OSU. Previously, he served as assistant director of International Student Success. 

Webinar Wednesdays (which happen on other days of the week) are a series of talks to help students jump-start their careers in high-tech. Everyone is welcome. While technical failures happen, we try to record the webinars.
