Please join us for the upcoming Water Resources Engineering Seminar. Dr. Piotr Cienciala of University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign – Geography & GIS will present “A Tole of Rivers, Forest & Fish Revisited: Some New Insights at the Interface of Geomorphology & Ecology” on Wednesday, February 6, from noon to 1 p.m. in STAG 111.

About Dr. Cienciala:

Piotr Cienciala is an assistant professor in the Department of Geography & GIS at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he is also affiliated with the Program in Ecology, Evolution & Conservation Biology. Piotr’s research explores how geomorphic and biological processes interact to shape physical landscapes and the associated ecosystems. Thus far, his work has focused primarily on river and riparian environments and biota. Two broad questions addressed by Piotr’s research are: How do biophysical fluvial systems operate and respond to environmental change? How can we apply interdisciplinary river science to guide watershed management, conservation, and restoration? Much of Piotr’s research is based in the forested mountain landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.

The seminar is free and open to the public.
We hope to see you there!
