The Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) industry has experienced growth outside of Alpine Europe within just the last decade, with rapid changes in production and markets. The overall objective of this research was to develop an annual survey to send to global cross-laminated timber manufacturers to gain an industry overview, which can be used to track short- and long-term trends. Information from CLT manufacturers was sought through a questionnaire about production including production technology, company’s markets and market segments, company’s other products and/or services, and company’s perceived opportunities and risks. Overall the industry is quite diverse, with a large variety in production volume, markets, company integration in the supply chain, and company’s future plans. There was concerns over inadequate building codes being barriers to further growth of the industry, thought this is rapidly changing with the mass timber additions to the International Building Code (2021).Responding global cross-laminated timber manufacturers have an overall positive outlook towards the future of cross-laminated timber, as they view the market and market value continuing to increase. Respondents are planning on increasing production of cross-laminated timber at their manufacturing site through a variety of ways, including increasing line efficiency and adding new equipment.
