About this Event

There are so many modifications of the wood which are possible to use in wood composites. Two most important modifications are, the modification of the strands (thermal treatment, acetylation) and adding other types of particles (plastics, cork) to the board to decrease the dimensional stability.
The main aim of this study is to evaluate the different modification of OSB in physical and mechanical properties. We would like to find the material with better dimensional stability and the same mechanical properties as non-treated material.
Tomas is doing a PhD in Furniture technology at Mendel University in Brno (Czech Republic). He studied two master degree in Furniture engineering and Wood-working engineering. His research is focused on the bonding of the wood and wood composites. The main research is about the bonding of the wood with different moisture content.
